Honda Dominates The Show At 2010 Indianapolis GP

With every passing year the Red Bull Indianapolis GP gets better and better and 2010 proved to be a great event, especially for fans of Honda racing. Honda won the MotoGP event as Dani Pedrosa secured the win in masterful fashion. He followed up that performance with another win at the San Marino GP and finished second at the Aragon GP on his Repsol Honda RC212V. The Indy Moto2 race provided plenty of potent racing action-as well as setting the stage for American Honda's fundraising efforts for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation® Ride for Kids®-and the American Honda Moriwaki MD250H powered by Honda also had its day in the sun.

Two red flags during the opening stages of the Moto2 race put a significant dent in the efforts of the American Honda Moto2 squad. Team rider Roger Lee Hayden was taken down in one of the two pile-ups, and his Moriwaki Honda MD600 sustained significant damage. "I got a good start but then somebody's rear wheel locked up and they ran into the back of me. I guess I'm lucky to be okay," Hayden later explained. "I'm just glad we got to go out there and finish the race."

Challenges to the team notwithstanding, the fundraising efforts of the American Honda Moto2 squad on behalf of the Ride for Kids® proved to be a huge success. At the end of the day, Ride for Kids® was the real winner, raising more than $30,000 from the Lap of Champions and merchandise sales-money that will be put to good use to fight pediactric brain tumors. The auction of Roger Lee Hayden's Drudi-designed team leathers which Hayden wore during the Moto2 race are expected to raise even more for this worthy charity. Go to http://www.pbtfus.org/rideforkids/ for more info about the team gear, upcoming auction and to learn more about the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation®.

To boost grassroots racing efforts in the USA, the 2010 Red Bull Indianapolis GP featured the first-ever appearance of United States Grand Prix Rider Union (USGPRU) Moriwaki MD250H racers at The Brickyard. Twenty-two riders filled the grid, and good racing was the order of the weekend. On Saturday, Garrett Gerloff won race 1, followed to the line by Jake Lewis and Nick McFadden. Race 2 on Sunday saw the same trio climb the podium with Garrett Gerloff winning once more and Nick McFadden taking the runner-up spot, followed by Jake Lewis.

Despite all the great action taking place on the track, there was still plenty more for Honda fans to enjoy, including the big Honda display that featured a replica of Roger Lee Hayden's Moto2 machine that fans could pose on for a photo portrait, with these proceeds also going to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation® Ride for Kids®.
